Airlocks are designed to allow gasses emitted from yeast to bubble through a layer of water and successfully leave the fermentation vessel without letting air, dust, dirt, bacteria or bugs in. Airlocks are often used in the initial fermentation stage of brewing beer or hard cider. A one piece air lock is easy to clean, stays all in one piece so parts are not lost and allows good air flow.
