Beginning Beekeeping in Person Apiary Class

This is a beginning class geared towards the beekeeper planning on obtaining and starting a new hive this Spring!

  • Successful management techniques
  • Bee breeds & starter colony options
  • Biology & life cycle
  • Mite & pest management
  • Feeding & nourishment
  • Organic vs. conventional beekeeping
  • Hive placement & positioning
  • Lighting your smoker
  • Internal and external hive checks
  • Right-sizing: When and how to set up your boxes
  • Setting up a feeder for your hive.

Class will be held outdoors and in person at Karla's Apiary in Ben Lomond. Class limited to 12 participants. Students must provide their own protective gear (beekeeping veil, gloves, long sleeves, pants and closed toed shoes). Rain or high winds will require the class to be rescheduled.

Refunds on classes will not be given without 48 hours' notice.
